Kim Williams is currently Vice President Environment Health & Safety, Regulatory, and Security at Ovintiv. Her hometown is Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000 with a Chemical Engineering degree.
Kim has worked at Ovintiv her entire career, starting as summer student at 19 and then moving into a variety of roles in production, reservoir, development, facilities, and strategic planning. In 2010 she took on her first formal leadership role as a Development Manager and in 2012 was promoted to Senior Manager of Development. From 2013-2016 Kim helped execute a number of Ovintiv’s property divestitures and was seconded to the Corporate Strategy Refresh Team leading a review of Ovintiv’s asset portfolio and developing the Montney play in Alberta & British Columbia. In the next few years, she further proved her combined talents for building teams and achieving results, and in 2019 she was named Ovintiv’s first-ever female vice president of EH&S, Regulatory, and Security. She leads a dynamic cross-border team that drives continuous improvement in the safe and sustainable production of oil & gas. Kim has quarterly responsibilities at the EH&S Committee of the Ovintiv Board of Directors and recently assisted the Board in setting emission reduction targets for the company.
Kim is a recipient of the Inspirational Team Leader award at the 2017 North American Women in Energy Forum, and a 2020 honoree at The Manufacturing Institute’s STEP Ahead awards. In 2021 Kim was selected by McKinsey & Company to be part of the first Canadian “Advancing Women 2021 Executives” cohort.
In her free time, Kim serves as principal oboist in the Calgary Fire Department’s “Cappy Smart” Band, enjoys tournament poker, golf, and quilting. She and her husband Zane travel, camp, and fish together with their two dogs Cooper & Doug.
