Hull Services has an organizational commitment to pursuing truth and reconciliation, decolonization and anti-oppression.

The Opportunity:

Hull Services is looking for Therapeutic Foster Parents for our Therapeutic Foster Caregiving Program (TFC).

As a Therapeutic Foster Parent, you would be welcoming a child or youth into your home and acting as their primary care provider and key member of a professional team.

As a Therapeutic Foster Parent, you will be entitled to same supports as conventional Foster Parents under an increased compensational model, access to specialized training, 1:1 in-home coaching, respite care, clinical consultations and 24-7 on-call support.

Therapeutic Foster Parents provide the opportunity for children and youth with high needs to live in a Foster Home, as an alternative to living in a residential facility or group home. “High needs” refers to youth with mental health, identity, or behavioural challenges.

As a Therapeutic Foster Parent, you will be provided with the training and support to confidently develop therapeutic relationships and support the needs of the child/youth in your care. Therapeutic Foster Parents strengthen the skills and connections of youth in their care to help successfully transition youth to their family or forever home.

What you’ll get:

  • $110 daily, tax-free stipend that also covers youth daily living costs, youth allowance and personal care items.
  • Paid for trainings offered through Hull Services.
  • Experience working as key member of a professional team, collaborating with Alberta Children’s Services.
  • 1:1 Foster Parent Coaching, access to Clinical Consultations and 24-7 on-call supports.
  • The opportunity to learn from cutting-edge training and gain sector-specific experience while maintaining employment outside the role of a Therapeutic Foster Parent.
  • Current Hull Employees are encouraged to apply. In accordance with Hull Services dual-role policy, concurrent roles will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Build a life-long connection with a child/youth in need while providing them with the opportunity to thrive outside of an institutional setting.

You’ll be a great fit if:

  • You’re a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
  • You rent or own a home suited to caring for 1 to 2 children/youth.
  • You are physically and emotionally capable of providing quality full time care for a youth with trauma impacted needs.
  • You possess a stable income.
  • Prior experience working with youth is an asset.
  • A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
  • A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.

How To Apply:

  • If interested, please forward your expression of interest to cklassen@hullservices.ca
  • Please indicate “Your Full Name – Therapeutic Foster Parents” in the subject line of your email.

The application will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
