About Friendship Group

Hull’s Friendship Group is an evidence and skill based program that offers children the opportunity to learn and practice skills related to making and keeping friends. Hull partners will Children’s Cottage to offer this program.

Who this Program Supports

This program is for children ages 5-7 and 8-11 who have difficulty with the skills that create positive, caring friendships. Friendships and play are very important for children; it’s where we all learn and practice the skills needed to make lasting and successful relationships. Without these skills, we can feel isolated, lonely, insecure and awkward.

Our Approach

Through fun activities and games, children will learn about and practice important elements of friendship such as:

  • effective communication
  • compromise
  • sharing
  • empathy and caring
  • problem solving
  • understanding what is appropriate in different social situations

Friendship group meets one to two times per week for 14 weeks depending on age. The groups will run 1.5 hours.  Due to Covid 19 the health and safety of all participants will be considered at all times. As a result group size will be limited to 4 to 6 children

Please Note: Children and families must be committed to the full 14 weeks.
