Pathways to Prevention: A Centre for Childhood Trauma now Certified to Offer Brazelton Touchpoints Training

Pathways to Prevention: A Centre for Childhood Trauma, a division of Hull Services, is excited to announce it is now certified as a Touchpoints Training Site member of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center Learning Network (BTCLN). 

“We are thrilled to announce the inclusion of The Brazelton Touchpoints training program as part of our education and training hub,” remarks Dr. Emily Wang, Senior Director, Clinical Advancement, Pathways to Prevention. “This valuable addition will equip service providers with the enhanced expertise, enabling them to implement best practices and deliver the highest level of care possible to all families, including those impacted by developmental trauma.” 

What is the Brazelton Touchpoints Approach? 

The Brazelton Touchpoints Approach is an evidence-based approach to building strong family-child relationships from before birth through to age 5. Participants who implement Touchpoints in their practice partner with families to lay the vital foundation for children’s early learning and health development. Touchpoints provides a practical, preventative approach that supports professionals in forming strength-based partnerships with families. 

This training program which aims to deliver the highest level of care possible to all families, including those impacted by developmental trauma, features an intensive 28-hour training course that includes scenario-based practice, skill building activities and group discussion, complete with six months of ongoing mentorship through monthly reflective practice calls.  

Who will benefit from the Brazelton Touchpoints Training? 

Professionals who work with young children and their families will benefit from this program, including: 

  • Early care educators 
  • Family childcare providers 
  • Home visitors 
  • Pediatric primary care providers
  • Early intervention educators 
  • Child welfare workers, and more 
As a Touchpoints Training Site, we are working to: 
  • Support organization’s community goals in delivering effective service to families 
  • Develop a common language and framework amongst care providers for engaging children, families and communities of care 
  • Enhance providers’ child and family engagement skills
  • Create seamless systems of care where families become more competent and confident in their own abilities to parent their child 

As a Touchpoints Training Site, Pathways to Prevention is a members of the BTCLN, a national and international learning community of 70 training sites across the country and around the world where Touchpoints links us to others as a universal language for supporting family and child development. 

The team at Pathways to Prevention look forward to delivering this training and education to both the Hull Services’ Agency and the wider community in the near future.
