About Resilient Families

Resilient families is a program that provides in-home support to help preserve and strengthen families. Our facilitators work together with families to help them reach their goals and address the challenges they are facing. We help to teach parenting skills and build on family resiliency so that parents are able to parent their children more effectively and independently.

We also work with our Provincial Family Resource Networks partners to ensure that families have access to the services and supports they need.

Who this Program Supports

The Resilient Families program provides support to families who may be having difficulties with parenting their child/youth and feel they could benefit from strengthening their parenting skills or increasing their knowledge on healthy child development.

We support families that may be experiencing stress or are worried about their own wellness or that of their child/family. We also serve families who need more connection to community services/supports to help them meet their needs.

Our Approach

Our staff develop goals with the family to help them achieve success in their parenting, communication, conflict-resolution and overall family wellness. Additionally, staff help families connect to their community and cultural resources.

Staff will work with outside supports to help families maintain any progress that has been made. The goal is to ensure permanency for the children involved and to maintain contact with whomever is identified as the children’s family.

Committed To Excellence

  • Program staff are trained in the Nurturing Parenting Programs and utilize this model/curriculum to teach and build upon existing parenting skills.
  • Our facilitators also receive training in trauma-informed care and the program has some access to Hull Services’ trauma clinicians.
  • The program also offers Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills groups for parents as well as social/emotional groups for youth.

How to Access the Program

Resilient Families is a self-referral program

Families can self-refer or may be referred by the Family Resource Network (FRN) hub where they live, or by another professional or service (although the program is voluntary).
